Making Breastmilk Soap

What you will need:

- 1 lb. organic glycerine soap base

- 10 oz. of breastmilk (This is a great way to use up frozen milk that will expire soon.)

- 1/2 cup oats

- 3 Tablespoons honey

- I made unscented soap, the result is a very raw, organic scent but you can use 3 or so drops of an essential oil such as lavendar.

Step One: Melt glycerine over medium to low heat.

Step Two: Add all other ingrediants and stir until mixture thickens, approximately 20 minutes. (Stir constantly to prevent burning.)

Step Three: Pour into a muffin tin (or soap mold) and sprinkle some oats on top. Let set overnight.

Step Four: Pop out with a butter knife and store in an air tight container.

  1. Neat. I will def be trying this when Kassie gets here. Thanks for posting!

  2. Hi, is it necessary to put oat? what is the usage of it?

    1. It is not necessary to put the oats in but they do work wonderfully as an exfoliator.

  3. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RECIPE.. I WILL TRY OVER THE WEEKEND!!! ... does it matter the order we add the ingredients?? bmilk.. and any type of honey? :)

  4. So excited to do this!!! Since it has BM do I need to keep it refrigerated or something?

  5. I would really like to use this for my 7 month old, she has really sensitive skin. But I am wondering if it's okay because of honey being an allergen. What do you think?

  7. Great recipe! The most natural and easiest I have found so far. Questions: Where do you get your glycerine soap base? And once the soap is made, how do you store (fridge?) and how long does it usually last?
